The 09 Event
The Extra Life 09 event is a special one for Team Meerkat, it’s our first. As it’s our first event we’re trying to get our friends and family involved as much as we can, as well as trying to plan out our gaming so we don’t lag in the early hours. We will also be trying to broadcast live, via the internet, both an audio stream of our Ventrilo chat and a video stream of our games. More info below.
Extra Life 09 game list
While this may not be definitive and may change, we can give you an idea of what we’re going to play and an idea of when. This list below is a based on an 8am PST start (that’s 4pm for the GMT peeps) on Saturday October 17th. The list is set in a loose play order, we’re keeping our projected play times to ourselves for now, we may want to play certain games longer or shorter than we project and sessions across the event may be setup. If you want to set up a play session with us now or across the events 24 hours, head over to the Say Hi page and leave us a message.
Dino Run Multiplayer - You can play for free here!
Guildwars – At this time of day we’ll probably be playing on the UK/EU servers. We’re planning a 5 hour ‘get as far as you can’ mission. Characters will be post searing, level 6 and have not started the mission chain yet.
Tiberian Sun – With Firestorm.
Battlefield 2142 – We’ll be playing both Titan and Conquest maps, usually on 48 or less player servers.
EvE Online – Due to the potential time of day we may be doing missions, but we’re open to PVP.
C&C Generals – We’ll be in the 3v3 channel.
Battlefield Heroes – If we want a silly break.
Dawn of War II – 3v3 team battles.
Homeworld 2 - Planning on team vs CPU to close out, but we’re open to challengers!
Live event streaming
We’re planning on streaming our Ventrilo chat channel so you can keep tabs on what we’re playing, how we’re getting on and the general hilarity and/or tiredness. We’re also planning to use UStream to stream one or more of our screens so you’ll be able to keep up to date on who’s winning, which games we’re playing and to keep tabs on us to make sure we’re actually playing! Both of these activities, feed links and tests of the streaming will be done via the Live Coverage pages.
We’re also on Twitter, we will be using the service to post thoughts, updates and information on the team, the site and the Extra life event. Head over to the team Meerkat twitter page and follow us to keep up to date!
